Key Highlights
- Sebastian Voltmer, A Space Photographer, has captured a massive prominence that can be seen on the Sun through his Daystar Quark H-alpha filter system.
- He got a huge eruption that was 20 times the size of the Earth when he pointed his telescope at the Sun.
- Sebastian shared the video on YouTube, which collected over 15,000 views.
A stunning video has been released on YouTube where a massive prominence can be seen on the Sun. It is so big that most of the users say the Sun appears to be breaking apart. The YouTube video also shows the prominence in motion and an eruption of solar flares.
The video was shared on YouTube by Space Movie on Monday. It has accumulated over 15,000 views. The page also has a collection of Astro images and time lapses clicked by Dr. Sebastian Voltmer.
Dr. Sebastian, a Space Photographer, said in the video that he pointed his telescope at the Sun. He got the huge eruption that is shown in the video, which is 20 times the size of the Earth.
Newsweek Report
Large, brilliant loops of plasma-electrically charged hydrogen and helium gas stretching from the Sun’s surface are called solar prominences, as per Newsweek. They are ten times bigger than the size of Earth and hence very gigantic.
Dr. Sebastian’s Daystar Quark H-alpha filter system captures the images. Newsweek reported that the solar prominences could be stable enough to last for months though they take only a day to produce while circling hundreds of thousands of kilometers into space and remaining tied to the Sun’s surface.
Dr. Sebastian has also tweeted an image on Twitter and wrote that there is currently a vast prominence visible on the Sun. His Daystar Quark has captured the images. Though impressive, it was spectacular to see a fast-moving part of it through his small refractor telescope ejecting and detaching to the side.
