Meesho Records Around 87.6 Lakh Orders On Day 1 Of 5-Day Festive Sale

Softbank-backed e-commerce firm Meesho said it registered around an 80 percent jump in the business with nearly 87.6 lakh orders on the first day of its five-day festive season sale. The company said that on day 1, Tier 2, 3 and 4 cities accounted for around 85 percent of orders.

Meesho clocked a record of nearly 87.6 lakh orders on the first day of its flagship festive sale event, the Meesho Mega Blockbuster Sale. The statement says this is the highest number of orders recorded by Meesho in a single day, up about 80 percent from day one of the sales compared to the previous year.

Meesho said it had received orders from deep corners of the country like Jamnagar, Alappuzha, Hassan, Gopalganj, Chhindwara, Davengere, Guwahati, Siwan, Thanjavur and Ambikapur.

It said that with a wide assortment of approximately 6.5 crore active product listings at the lowest prices, the sale exemplifies Meesho’s mission of democratizing e-commerce for everyone.

Fashion, home & kitchen, beauty & personal care, and electronic accessories were the top-selling categories on the first day. At the same time, the company said that consumers bought everything from sarees to analog watches, mobile cases and covers, jewelry sets, Bluetooth headphones, choppers and peelers in record volumes to fulfill their festive shopping aspirations.

With around 85 percent of orders and approximately 75 percent of sellers coming from Tier 2 and beyond cities, Meesho is humbled to have created a far-reaching impact in the deepest corners of the country.

Meesho CXO for Business Utkrishta Kumar said that they would continue to fuel the discoverability of hyperlocal businesses and products, empower MSMEs and further boost accessibility and affordability for their heterogeneous base of consumers.
