Gulf Data Hub (GDH) is committed to remaining a carrier-neutral service provider offering 24×7 uptime with the best possible reliability and safety solutions. It is currently expanding in the Middle East region and is aiming for a creating a wider worldwide presence. “The goal of Gulf Data Hub is to deliver a world-class carrier and vendor-neutral Data Centre in the MENA. Maintaining neutrality will increase the customer spectrum allowing GDH to become the region’s first choice facility to store companies’ mission-critical equipment,” said Tarek Al Ashram, the CEO & Founder of Gulf Data Hub.

In our recent interaction with Tarek Al Ashram, we uncovered how Gulf Data Hub has secured its positioning amongst the top 10 leading companies of the year 2023. Here is the interview.

How will you describe the current scenario of the industry?

Due to the COVID Pandemic situation across the world companies have realized how critical it is to have your systems keep running 24X7 hence the demand for Data center business has multiplied in recent years where you need a reliable infrastructure provider to be available 99.999%.

As new technologies are being adopted in terms of machine learning or AI systems the demand for more Rack density is increasing where previously it was an average of 5KW per rack now it has reached an average of 12KW per rack which means Data center operators need to look to more efficiently handle power and cooling demands where the industry is looking into innovations like Immersive cooling, Hot aisle containments, Fan wall Units, etc.

What inspired you to establish Gulf Data Hub?

The desire to build world-class Data center infrastructure in the Middle East in order to attract all major Hyper scalers and industry giants to the Middle East.

What were the challenges that you faced initially in your journey?

As new entrants in the DC business market, we did face many hurdles and challenges even after building a world-class facility. Customers were skeptical if GDH can sustain or if GDH could deliver services without interruption? GDH proved its ability and became the current largest carrier-neutral colocation provider in MENA.

Could you give the readers an overview of the offerings of the Gulf Data Hub?

GDH formula is simple yet complex where we yield to deliver international standard services at local markets. Agility is key where GDH has delivered major projects even during COVID pandemic lockdowns worldwide without any delay in committed timelines.

According to you, what ranks GDH as a leading company amongst the competitors present in the industry?

GDH has many successful stories in terms of delivery of major projects on time to operating at 100% SLA compliance without any failures or business interruptions. Delivering bespoke services as per customer requirements is our strength.

Throughout the journey, which award/recognition are you the proudest of?

All the awards that we have received so far have unique recognition, but I would rate our recent award for “Best Energy Efficiency Innovation” would be applaudable as the Data Center business is based on power utilization and how efficiently you maintain it.

In recent years, what has been the most challenging phase for Gulf Data Hub?

The supply chain and manufacturing industry have been hit hard during the pandemic lockdown and delivering projects on time was a very daunting task. GDH overcame such challenges by way of pre-ordering ahead of projects as well as using alternate logistics arrangements even if that meant over the planned budget as GDH is known to stick to their timelines and commitment to end customers.

What will you list as the top three contributors to making GDH one of the leading companies of 2023?

The combination of perseverance to do well,

innovation from lessons learned from the past,

and dedication to growth has been the key recipe for GDH’s success so far.

What does the roadmap of the Gulf Data Hub look like for the following year?

GDH has aggressive expansion plans and by 2023 we will be doubling our capacity and will be most sorted after colocation facility in MENA.
