Google and other tech giants come together to form the Data Cloud Alliance

Google Cloud is among the top player in data, analytics, storage, and database providers in the tech industry. Google stated that it will be forming a new initiative to ensure that businesses globally will have more seamless access and insights into the data which will be essential for digital transformation.

The founding members of the DC Alliance will be Google Cloud, Accenture, Deloitte, Dataiku, Confluent, Databricks, Fivetran, Redis, Elastic, MongoDB, Neo4j, and Starburst. These members are committing to making data more portable and accessible across different business systems, platforms, and environments.

Google statement on the Alliance

Gerrit Kazmaier, the VP of Databases, Data Analytics, and Business Intelligence at Google Cloud commented, “Data is the common foundation for all digital transformations. By committing to open data standards, access, and integration between the most popular data platforms and applications today, we believe we can significantly accelerate business transformations and close the data to value gap.”

A statement from the Data Cloud Alliance

A joint statement from the members of the DC Alliance has been released, where they shared, “Members of the alliance will work together to help reduce customer challenges and complexity with data governance, data privacy, data loss prevention, and global compliance. For the betterment of customers’ data clouds, the alliance will commit to solving skills gaps through skill development for practitioners in modern data and analytics technologies.”

What will the Data Cloud Alliance deliver?

DC Alliance members will be offering infrastructure, APIs, and integration support. This will be to ensure that multiple platforms and products across several environments have data portability and accessibility.

Each member of the Data Cloud Alliance will collaborate on new, common industry data models, processes, and platform integrations to increase data portability and reduce the complexity associated with data governance and compliance.
